Youth Lead Clean-up Efforts: “Be the solution, not the pollution.”DEMING – Last month, the community of Deming showcased its dedication to environmental care and beautification through a series of impactful cleanup campaigns.
Spearheaded by various local groups, these initiatives underscored the collective commitment to preserving and enhancing the city's surroundings. The Deming Rotary Club and the Deming Wrestling Club kicked off the endeavor by embarking on a thorough cleanup of Downtown Deming. Their efforts set the stage for further community involvement, inspiring others to join the cause. Continuing the momentum, the youth of Casa de Dios took on the challenge of cleaning up the Butter Field Trail landfill demonstrating their determination to make a tangible difference in their environment. A significant milestone in the cleanup journey occurred at Trees Lake, where the Deming Wrestling Club, DHS JROTC, and parks crew united their efforts. Fueled by a Clean and Beautiful program grant, they devoted a Saturday morning to the cause, ultimately removing three dump truckloads of weeds and debris. In a display of solidarity, Keep Luna County Beautiful orchestrated a citywide cleanup effort in collaboration with local authorities. With eighty-four volunteers from five youth groups, they targeted areas around East Cedar, Country Club, and 2nd St NW, successfully clearing approximately 3,500 lbs. of trash from the community. These initiatives serve as a testament to the power of collective action and environmental stewardship. Keep up with what’s happening in
